For English Language Learners

Summer@Brown Courses for English Language Learners are a set of two-week courses, representing a broad range of academic disciplines, that focus on content area while enhancing students command of the English language. Students are able to explore an area of study while expanding their English proficiency broadly and specific to the field of study. Students enrolled in English Language Courses have access to and experience all that Summer@Brown has to offer.

Program Dates:

Two, two-week sessions

July 8th - July 20th
July 22nd - August 3rd
Students can enroll in one or both sessions.

Course Meeting Time:

Monday: 9:00 am - 11:30 am
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: 9 am - 11:30 am AND 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Friday: 9:00 am - 11:30 am


For students completing grades 9-12, ages 15-18 by June 2018


Two-Week Course Residential: $4,191
Two-Week Course Commuter: $3,023

English Language Proficiency Criteria

Summer@Brown Courses for English Language Learners provide students with exposure to college-level learning in both a content area and in English Language skills building. As such students who enroll in these courses do need a degree of proficiency in English, with fluidity in the following areas; speaking, listening, writing, and reading. Such a degree of proficiency will enable them to fully and independently engage in both the academic and co-curricular activities.
