Valentine Tendo-Kuharic

Program Advisor

Please tell us about your work and how long you have been at Brown?
I have been at Brown for almost two years now. As a Pre-College Program Advisor, I support current and prospective Pre-College students and parents with general inquiries around programs, courses, the application process, and any other questions or concerns they might have. Along with supporting students, Program Advising collaborates with other teams within the Division of Pre-College and Summer Undergraduate Programs on ongoing projects.

What has been your most memorable or rewarding experience since joining Brown?
Pre-College campus check-ins are the most rewarding part of my role since I get the opportunity to meet the students and parents I interact with leading up to their first day on campus. Engaging with enthusiastic students and parents reminds me of why I do what I do.

What is one Pre-College course you would love to take?
Compassionate Creativity for Health and Well-Being. I am interested in the intersectionality of art with healing practices.

What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
I’ve always had an interest in the culinary arts, cooking is one of my favorite pastimes and I am passionate about exploring different cuisines.

What is one thing on your bucket list?
I would love to visit and explore Japan someday; I’m fascinated by the food, culture, and traditions.
