COVID-19 Information: Brown University is closely monitoring and responding to the COVID-19 situation locally, nationally and around the world. At this time, we are planning for Brown Summer Sports Camps to run as scheduled. We will communicate with campers and their families should that status change. In the meantime, we encourage you to visit the Sports Camps COVID-19 web page for additional information.

COVID-19 Coronavirus Information
for Sports Campers and Families

Updated last: April 1, 2020

We continue to closely monitor the impact and implications of the pandemic and are prepared to make any adjustments necessary to protect the health and safety of all Sports Camps participants, their families, our staff members and the greater Brown community.

As we consider options for this summer’s Sports Camps on campus and make decisions on status, we expect to update you on those decisions no later than April 16.

  • With the impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus expanding across the globe, and Brown’s Summer Sports Camps over three months away, the University is closely monitoring scientific and health care recommendations from experts and authorities both locally and globally.
  • While it is too early to predict the precise impact on each of our programs and all of the students and families enrolled, Brown will continue to rely on guidance from the U.S. Department of State, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the World Health Organization.
  • To keep the community informed about the virus, Brown has launched a COVID-19 website with detailed updates and information about the illness and the University’s preparedness and response. While much of the information is intended for students, faculty, and staff who are year-round community members, updates about summer programs will be posted on this page.
  • Information on this website will be updated regularly. If more focused information needs to be shared, we will do so via email to students and families, and in the student portal.
  • At this point, we encourage families with students traveling to one of our programs from affected areas to:
    • monitor local travel restrictions, as well as the U.S. State Department website, for updates;
    • check-in with your airline carrier closer to your time of travel to ensure you are prepared for any related protocols; and
    • consider insurance that covers cancelation or change in travel plans.
  • We will have detailed protocols in place this summer should anyone participating in our programs become ill. These processes will be consistent with local and federal guidance. We will update this page as protocols are finalized in the next few months.
  • If you have questions about financial policies, please review this information: https://precollege.brown.edu/sportscamps/policies/
  • If you have any immediate questions or concerns, please contact our Sports Camps team at 401-863-5988 Monday-Friday 8:30AM - 4:45PM EST or sportscamps@brown.edu.

We expect to have a robust, exciting summer of sports camps on Brown’s campus, and we look forward to meeting you then!
