Hey there, I'm Ella and I'm a rising senior from Texas. This past summer I took the two-week cognitive development course, 'Emerging Minds: How Children Learn to Think and Think to Learn.'
Through my class, I had the opportunity to tour child testing rooms, make my own research papers, meet actual researchers and simulate experiments with my classmates. I’ve always had an interest in psychology and this class has given me the incredible opportunity to explore that interest in such a unique way with so many resources at my disposal.
When I saw that Brown Pre-College had a course specifically for Child and Development Psychology, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. This course helped me realize a lot about the specific areas of psychology that I love and has given me clarity about what kind of career I want in the future. I also now know how to conduct and record research, which will be absolutely crucial to success in this field.
My biggest takeaway from this experience has definitely been learning how to live on my own. This experience has done wonders for my confidence in my abilities, and has made me secure knowing that I can be really happy living independently.
