Kevin Coccio

Program Advising Specialist

Please tell us about your work and how long you have been at Brown?
My name is Kevin Coccio and I’ve been working as a Program Advisor with the Division of Pre-College and Undergraduate Programs for a little under two years. I spend my time at work aiding students and parents with their applications, enrollments and answering any questions they might have about our pre-college programs.

What has been your most memorable or rewarding experience since joining Brown?
My most memorable experience is probably the first Sunday on-campus check-in I attended, walking around campus early in the morning before hundreds and hundreds of the students I’d been working with arrived. I also love to receive messages from our students after their on-campus or online courses about how much they enjoyed them and what they plan on doing with their newfound knowledge!

What is one Pre-College course you would love to take?
There are so many great courses! I would love to take Introduction To Music Production so I could spend some time with Brown’s recording equipment. I’d also love to take Medical Diagnostics: Observation, Interpretation, the Art of Being a Better MD because of all the field trips to the RISD Museum and the Brown YURT

If I were to take an online course, I’d love to take Learn to Program in Two Weeks or Introduction to Engineering and Design

What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
If I wasn’t working in higher education, I’d work in either film or audio. I’d love to learn how to be an audio mastering engineer.

What is one thing on your bucket list?
I’d love to record the soundtrack for a movie.
