Brittanny O’Meara Connelly

Director, Pre-College Student Life

Please tell us about your work and how long you have been at Brown?
I’ve been working in Pre-College Student Life since I joined the Brown community in May 2017. Over the past 3+ years I have held many responsibilities within Pre-College Student Life but, in my current role of Associate Director, I primarily oversee the creation and implementation of our residential and programming curricula, support our students from the Providence Public School District and our partner scholars’ in their out of the classroom experiences, and oversee the development and implementation of student non-academic policies and disciplinary processes.

What has been your most memorable or rewarding experience since joining Brown?
In my role I am used to supporting students as they tackle the new challenges of college life head on - like independent living, developing new relationships, effectively managing their schedules, and many others - and I am constantly in awe of their determination and resiliency. Over the past year, I have been honored to watch our students adapt to new learning experiences in these unprecedented times with continued grit and resolve. In particular, our team has modified our in person developmental experiences to virtual student life mentor groups. It was incredibly rewarding to be able to continue to offer the same high caliber learning experiences to students in a new digital environment. I am excited about the opportunity to continue to enhance these online offerings so that we might be able to engage a broader audience in our student life programming.
