Joi-Danelle received her B.A. in History from Tufts University, a M.S. in Urban Education from Mercy College and a certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University. Joi-Danelle joined Brown University in 2016 as the inaugural Assistant Director of Pre-College Programs and Diversity Initiatives. Since then, she’s led diversity, equity and inclusion efforts through the oversight of international, national and local community-based partnerships that center the access, support and success of low-income and historically underrepresented students. She serves as Co-chair of the Departmental Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan Committee and provides curricular development support across academic disciplines. She is a 2019 Brown University Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity Administrative Fellow and a member of the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education. Prior to coming to Brown, Joi worked in student affairs, secondary education and led a college access and persistence program, providing direct support to underrepresented students. She is committed to fostering diverse, equitable and inclusive environments where students, instructors and staff can thrive.
