Biography

Joi-Danelle leads diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts and works collaboratively with colleagues across the Division to advance strategic goals. She oversees local community-based, national and international partnerships that center the access, experiences, support and success of marginalized students - including students from low-income backgrounds, students from historically underrepresented/excluded groups and students who will be the first in their families to attend college. Born and raised in Rhode Island, Joi-Danelle holds a B.A. in History from Tufts University and a M.S. in Urban Education from Mercy College as well as certifications in leadership and diversity and inclusion from Brown University and Cornell University, respectively. She serves as Chair of the Division’s Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan Committee and is a 2019 Brown University Institutional Equity and Diversity Administrative Fellow. An ardent advocate for college access and success, her 20 years of work experience span secondary education, curriculum development, DEI, student affairs and advising, program management, partnership development, and community engagement.
