Uncover the Layers of BEE: Paris

Paris is more than just the City of Light—it is a city of layers, history and transformation. For motivated high school students eager to explore the depth of Parisian culture and history through the French language, Paris Palimpsest is a unique opportunity that offers you an unparalleled experience to immerse yourself in the rich history and exciting eras that contributed to the Paris we know today.

What is a Palimpsest?

A palimpsest is a manuscript that has been written, erased and written over again—yet traces of the past remain. As a city, Paris is much the same. Beneath its contemporary façade, remnants of the layers of its past still shape its streets, architecture and culture. This summer, Brown Pre-College students will uncover the city's many layers, from Roman ruins and medieval alleyways to the grand boulevards of Haussmann’s Paris and the dynamic cultural movements that continue to redefine the city.
